The same problem [ error “Out of Sync” ] I got with Muneer’s computer also. Dunno if it still has the problem. It is a live CD that can be installed on a hard disk. I tried it on CC and it works fine.

Hey,
Did the Mepis Live CD Work ? I tried that some time back . Got the error "Out of Sync". I think the X.org or Xfree86 needed to be editted to get the X.
